Pike Place Chowder Restaurant Review:

One of the originators of Northwest chowder, this tiny cafeteria-style kitchen hidden in Pike Place Market’s Post Alley serves freshly made soups with sourdough bread. Enjoy a bowl at the white-tiled counter, or grab a seat at one of the few indoor or outdoor tables. Choose from seafood bisque, velvety smoked salmon chowder made with capers and cream, classic Manhattan-style clam chowder featuring an herb-infused tomato broth with loads of the tender shellfish, or seared scallop chowder with an inspired blend of dill and lime juice. Can’t decide? Order the sampler of four soups. The menu also includes side salads such as Caesar, spinach or market greens, plus a sandwich (called a roll) filled with either Dungeness crab, smoked salmon, Bay shrimp or curried chicken salad. Also located at 600 Pine St., Pacific Place Center, 206-838-5680.
