Hidden behind this Lincoln Boulevard restaurant’s cold exterior is a kitchen preparing robust Thai cuisine. The dining room is trendy and modern with dim, sexy lighting and comfortable banquettes. Those who prefer a refined start can try the meaty diver scallops, pan-seared and served in a spicy lemongrass sauce, though a traditional appetizer can be enjoyed in larb --- a zesty combination of minced chicken, lime juice, scallions and chile. Tom kha soup delivers the requisite familiar flavors with its coconut milk broth, galangal (ginger) and straw mushrooms. There are several curries that incorporate a variety of proteins, but the California vegan version has a lighter base, making the tastes of chile and stewed vegetables more pronounced. A creative incarnation of the typical orange chicken recipe bakes the poultry instead of frying it, and finishes it with a tangerine sauce. A limited wine list is available, and the specialty cocktails are worth trying. For dessert, sticky rice with mango is a traditional favorite.
