Tonto Bar & Grill Restaurant Review:

Many of the ingredients utilized in the dishes offered at this eclectic Arizona-themed restaurant are fresh from the surrounding desert: prickly pear, jojoba seeds, mesquite beans, saguaro fruit, palm dates and olives. They all add up to deliver some of the most exciting dining in the Valley, with signatures like the Indian Harvest torta with braised Anasazi beans, tomatoes, ancho chile goat cheese, palm dates and sun-dried tomatillo relish on "ancient" three-grain flatbread. Flavors are layered, like the orange barbecued salmon with sweet potato, poblano and grilled corn hash, alongside spaghetti squash with spinach, roasted garlic and mesquite honey jus. The view is pure Arizona, too, from the latilla-covered patio overlooking the 11th green at the lush Rancho Mañana golf course, and of Skull Mesa, Elephant Butte and Tonto National Forest. Service tends to be casual in the clubhouse setting, but the wine list is serious.
