Textured and polished cement, papier-mâché artistic murals and gilt accenting give a touch of Venice to this Mission eatery that delivers tapas-style portions of updated Italian cuisine. Creative interpretations of classics, such as in-season pear and prosciutto with mascarpone, add the required California locavore touch, while items like burrata flown in weekly from Italy hold tight to the mother country. House-made focaccia is a great sopping side, and the base for pizza. Larger entrées are offered, too, including an organic pork chop with Gorgonzola. Desserts run to the traditional: cannoli and tartufo. Skip the cheese board, but do try some Italian wines by the glass, particularly the crisp and flavorful whites from some of Italy's more interesting grapes. Italian-themed cocktails are also available from the full bar.
