THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Pierre's Restaurant Restaurant Review:
Caribbean, or more specifically Trinidadian, restaurants are still relatively rare in these parts, but Pierre's does not do much to further the cause. Nominally Caribbean, even Trinidadian, Pierre's offers such a polyglot array of dishes that it's hard to figure where it is all going, except that the cooking is called French-Caribbean. Starters such as the lobster medallions with mango-leek fondue sound way too fusion to woo many Caribbean admirers. As for entrées, these are also a mixed bag: oxtail-stuffed squid, curried coconut shrimp served in half a coconut, island coffee cocoa-spiced rack of lamb, and jerk pork with pumpkin gnocchi seem to have no particular heritage. On the other hand, something called Trinidadian Delight does sound rooted to an island, but alas, this turns out to be merely a broiled chicken half served with rice and beans and a mesclun salad.
