THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Pink Magnolia Restaurant Review:

Blythe Beck has taken her Southern recipes and opened Pink Magnolia in Oak Cliff. The restaurant’s name --- a nod to the Southern flower --- is a happy moniker, while the aqua walls, flanked by green hedging, lend pretty accents to the dining room. The menu includes upscale deviled eggs, biscuits and butter and Texas lamb chop lollipops. Diverse entrées reveal cayenne garlic shrimp and grits, cornmeal-fried catfish or the popular chicken-fried rib-eye; Sunday suppers allow guests to customize their own menus. The drinks roster offers plenty of wine options, but the cocktails, like the Pink Magnolia with Champagne and house-made Angostura sugar cubes, feel more appropriate. Brunch service focuses on specialty cocktails and dishes like the hoecake stack made from cornmeal cakes, and the Texas-inspired steak and egg tacos. Sugar highs run the gamut from chocolate fudge waffles to the spiced pear and candied bacon bread pudding. The small outdoor patio seats 20 and features porch swings that rock to the wind. Make sure to take a look inside the bathrooms: the wallpaper is a collection of Beck’s old recipes.
