About the restaurant: The owners of Pizano's planted this outpost near the perpetually busy McCormick Place, where hungry conventioneers will always have a spot for deep dish and cold beer. Wider and longer in layout than its counterparts in the Loop and Wicker Park, the eatery boasts the elements of a classic Chicago hangout, with sports memorabilia lining the walls, and a bank of TVs wrapped around the 360-degree bar to catch whatever game might be on.

Food: Customize your pies with your own toppings, or lean on signatures such as the Rudy’s Special, a collection of cheese, sausage, mushroom, onion and green pepper, either in thin crust or deep dish. Pasta is a house signature. The creamy Pasta a La Franco and spicy Hot Mama’s Pasta are heavy on flavor. This is a place that you can tote the kids, especially when the reward for sitting still is a cast-iron cookie dessert, presented, of course, like a deep-dish pizza.
