If you’re craving a taste of Thai or maybe a spicy tuna roll, chef/owner Arnold Myint has you covered at PM, his popular spot across the street from Belmont University. Myint’s parents brought Thai tastes to the city for the first time in 1975, and their son combines traditions and Eastern ingredients in innovative ways to carry on their good work. You can sample a number of bright, pleasing small plates like coconut calamari, Laotian sausage bites or lump crab wontons spiked with bacon. Sushi is basic; your choices include the standard hamachi, California roll, etc. The entrées are where it’s at, though: saké-seared salmon, green curry mussels, pad prik pao and much more. For dessert, you need only utter three words: brownie tempura donuts. Several minutes later, powdered sugar on your lips, you won't remember what hit you. Wines are affordable but not overly intriguing, and neither are many of the too-sweet cocktails. A selection of craft beer and saké, however, is great fun to explore.
