Once upon a time, the crispy duck and the sensational soft-shell crabs made a visit to this restaurant a must. It was also popular with local Thais who loved its many traditional noodle dishes. Now with so many other Thai choices, Po Siam no longer ranks among the best. That said, you'll still find the small dining room crowded with local businesspeople at lunch, and with twenty- and thirtysomething's at dinner. You won't find anything unusual on the menu, except perhaps the country-style noodle soup, packed with thinly sliced beef. This is Thai dining in a pinch, when you don't feel like driving across town for really impressive cuisine. Check the lunch menu for specials, and note that both the standard and the takeout menus are not identical.
