Just 90-minutes outside Seattle you’ll find the elegant Portals restaurant at the all-seasons Suncadia Resort. Daytime dining room views showcase the Cle Elum River and often snowy Cascade Mountains, while at night the atmosphere is romantic yet family-friendly. Chef Alex Paguaga's menu may include lobster mac ‘n’ cheese dressed with truffle oil, braised beef brisket with horseradish mashed potato, or pan-seared salmon topped with a Dungeness crab cake. For dessert, the apple tart and pumpkin cheesecake are well worth the splurge. Weekend brunch features a buffet as well as an à la carte menu. Service is professional and attentive, while the locally-focused wine list is nicely balanced.
