Preux & Proper Restaurant Review

: With Preux & Proper, Baton Rouge native Joshua Kopel offers a taste of the South in downtown LA. The upstairs dining room menu from executive chef/partner Sammy Monsour offers both classic and modern takes, as in fried Mississippi catfish, chicken fried pork belly and gumbo. Barroom eats like deep dish biscuit dough pizzas are offered downstairs. While sister restaurant South City Fried Chicken has shuttered, the concept carries on as a lunchtime pop-up available Monday through Saturday. Among the five sandwiches is The New Orleans, loaded with Creole rémoulade, Cajun spice, Thai basil, a fried egg and ginger-miso BBQ sauce. There are also fried chicken plates with waffles or a biscuit, plus Southern sides and sweets.
