THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Purple Sage Restaurant Review:
This is a trendy, informal Italian restaurant in the quieter backwaters behind Oxford Street. Bread and olive oil greet you, as do irresistible scents from the wood-burning pizza oven. Its a shame theyre not available at lunchtime when youll pay more for some interesting antipasti such as broccoli croquettes or cabbage, spring onion, Parmesan and saffron timbale. The straightforward main courses like veal chop with rosemary sautéed potatoes and tomato salad with prices that nevertheless make a useful but not bargain rendezvous in the West End away from the crowds. Be warned, the high-ceilinged, brick-walled room itself is noisy.
