The bold colors throughout this spacious café create a vibrant and cheerful ambience. Between the brick floors and the warehouse-style beamed ceilings, each room has its own personality. The food in this festive neighborhood eatery exceeds our expectations, beginning with appetizers such as grilled flautas filled with lobster, crab meat, avocado and cheese, along with all the traditional fare. Among extensive entrée choices, we like the hearty platter of jumbo shrimp sautéed in a mild Spanish sauce paired with an eight-ounce charbroiled rib-eye steak and the broiled marinated chicken breast topped with corn relish and served with a vegetable medley. Flan with whipped cream and chocolate enchiladas---mascarpone cheese-filled chocolate crêpes---are among sweet finales. An extensive collection of margaritas nicely complements the cuisine. Among coffee drinks, the “Mexican” is flavored with Kahlúa and tequila. A singing guitarist entertains Thursday-Saturday evenings, followed on Friday and Saturday by a mariachi duo and late-night appetizers until 2 a.m.
