THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED RailBridge Cellars & Company Restaurant Review:

Located on the ground floor of the historic Elks Tower, RailBridge Cellars & Company is the culinary branch of the Sacramento-based winery of the same name. The interior plays on the building’s 1920s grandeur, with marble tile, vintage light fixtures and exposed brick walls, many adorned with sepia-tinged photos of yesteryear. Broad glass windows peer down into the original basement swimming pool, now used for private events, while opposing windows provide a glimpse onto the busy street outside. The menu takes advantage of the region’s bounty, featuring gourmet salads, sandwiches, small plates and several entrées. Starters include the briny deep-fried olives, the saltiness tamed with a mellow herbed ricotta stuffing, and the surprisingly light beer-battered fennel, served with a tangy citrus aïoli. Mains include pan-seared salmon and pork osso buco, but our favorite is the brisket and short rib burger, topped with piquant manchego and mellow roasted-red pepper aïoli. Desserts are equally rich, and include an espresso chocolate mousse and seasonal bread pudding. Weekdays, pop in for a coffee and pastry before heading to the office, take advantage of happy hour or sample the namesake wine during tasting events the first and third Thursdays of each month.
