On the outside, this Chagrin Valley institution is an unassuming brick building with large windows. On the inside, you’ll find lots of paneled walls covered with bought-by-the-truckload Victoriana, a black-painted ceiling with low-hanging light fixtures that cast shadows rather than light, stained glass windows, and lots of nook-and-cranny seating for gab fests or romantic tête-à-têtes. The menu is casual with dishes like a tenderloin salad served with warm redskin potatoes and Yankee pot roast. There is also a short list of surf ‘n’ turf choices including Asian salmon and pepper steak. Service is slow, but reliable. Homemade desserts and a full bar (with an okay selection of wines) round out the experience.
