THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Ransome's Dock Restaurant Review:

Chef-patron Martin Lam calls himself an artisan, not an artist. But many of his trade (some describing themselves as artists) pay him the ultimate tribute by regularly eating here. The dock outside the restaurant can be oddly attractive, especially for summer lunch, while vibrant blue walls with intriguing pictures contribute to a lively but not brash ambience. Service is relaxed and friendly. A short menu might go from Morecambe Bay potted shrimps to smoked Norfolk eel fillets with pancake and crème fraîche, and char-grilled spiced quail with carrot and lemon to Dutch calf’s liver with garlic mash and stew of spring lamb with baby vegetables. All the ingredients are well sourced and cooked with respect. There is a very wide-ranging wine list, with modest mark-ups even at the expensive end. It includes a wide array by the glass. Set 2-course lunch Mon.-Fri. £15.50.
