Rapscallion Seafood House & Bar Restaurant Review

: A Reno tradition since 1977, Rapscallion is the place to go for seafood and good steaks. The setting is classic chophouse, with wood paneled walls, private booths, fine linens and professional service. Start with a seafood combo appetizer of coconut prawns, a scallop wrapped in bacon, and a crab cake, or the spicy yellowfin tartare. Salads include the traditional Caesar available with grilled chicken, calamari or bay shrimp. Prime Black Angus beef steaks top the entrée menu, but it’s the seafood that keeps us coming back. Pan-seared lemon-pepper scallops are sweet and plump, served with a lobster bisque sauce. Tender and flaky pecan-crusted orange roughy is complemented by a Jack Daniels sauce for a Southern treat. The mixed grill includes swordfish, lobster and salmon paired with crunchy scallion potato latkes. For dessert, we recommend either the bread pudding with rum sauce or the baked caramel custard, both well matched with a glass of port. The cellar features more than 2,000 wines, with approximately 25 available by the glass. The lively bar is great for starting and finishing an evening.
