THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Red Ginger Caribbean & Latin American Bistro Restaurant Review:

Once the showplace of local Caribbean cook Sharon Banks, this Georgetown eatery has changed both hands and menu, and the transformation has not been at all negative. Much pared down, the menu is now a blend of Caribbean, American South and Hispanic influences and your choices can range from such Southern adaptations as plantain-crusted oysters (is this the chef's take on the New Orleans classic, the oyster po' boy?) and Jamaican jerk chicken drumsticks, or lollipops, as starters to a Mexican-ish adobo-spiced duck breast and shrimp and purple corn polenta entrées. We feel that the chef's grilled rack of lamb in red mole may well be the restaurant's signature dish. And if you want it rare, that's how the lamb rack is cooked. We loved its subtle sweet-hot marinade and baste, but while the lamb ranks high, its stark presentation cries for more than a bed of lentils. You'll need to order sides and may choose from such offerings as collard greens, mashed sweet potatoes and yellow corn grits.
