THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Red Onion Seafood y Mas Restaurant Review:
Chef Humberto Molina-Segura is ecstatic to introduce guests to his light Peruvian-style seafood at this offshoot of Café Red Onion. The ambience at this Northwest Houston location is unexpectedly sleek with extensive attention paid to detail in the stylish tableware, pale granite tabletops and inviting bar. Tiraditos are the specialty here---not traditional ceviches but a style influenced by Peru's own Japanese culture. Lively combinations, beautifully presented, include rich salmon tossed with grapefruit juice, or tuna accented with dill and exotic hints of coconut. We also relish the cooked seafood; try the greaseless fried calamari or the plump boiled shrimp with riveting passion fruit sauce. Pan-seared, corn cob-smoked flounder is perfectly cooked and the imaginative-sounding beef medallions drizzled with Chilean wine-caramel sauce actually work despite the dessert-like description. Check out the fresh-squeezed aguas frescas or mimosas for Sunday brunch.
