Red Sky Cafe Restaurant Review:
The Red Sky Café is an intimate restaurant for a special evening, a light supper before a concert at the town park or a celebratory lunch. For the midday repast, sandwiches prevail, including an inventive chicken BLT, a po' boy of the day and a Reuben, and there are also fish tacos, burgers and barbecue, all served with “Rosa's world famous potato salad.” Pasta, quesadillas and a few salads round out the menu. The carefully curated dinner menu features well-thought-out dishes utilizing quality, fresh and local ingredients. For starters, try the scallops tapenade or charred tuna. We also recommend the Caesar topped with chile-dusted, flash-fried tortilla strips. Entrées range from duck to a wood-fired daily mixed grill, Mattamuskeet lump crab cakes, veal, and signature items like the Blue Moo (a Maytag blue cheese-crusted tenderloin) and shrimp and grits. Red Sky features some lovely wines by the glass as well as a refreshing muddled cucumber martini.
