THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Reggae Hut Restaurant Review:
This is one of Houston's best-kept secrets. Those in the know turn to this unassuming strip-center spot for funky curries and heaping, messy plates of blue crab claws or tender baby goat. Everything is authentically Jamaican and served with mounds of rice and a pile of colorful steamed vegetables. Chicken and goat are served with a rich variety of exotic spices, often with potato and Pickapeppa sauce for good measure. Jerk chicken---flavored with a potent blend of pumpkin pie spices, thyme, green onions and peppers---is perhaps the best-known option. But don’t miss the seafood here, with fish and crabs prominently featured. Caveat: after eating at the Reggae Hut, you will reek of ginger, onion and garlic; but so will your dinner companions.
