The restaurant's namesake, Mr. Ma, greets customers personally and is unabashed about seating and waiting on them. From the moment diners enter the place, they are surrounded by the aroma of Szechuan peppers which generates anticipation for the meal to come. The customary dishes are here, such as the beloved but pedestrian General Tao's chicken---which is, surprisingly, one of the restaurant’s best dishes: crispy and nicely coated with dark, sweet sauce. Beef, seafood and vegetarian selections should also be given due consideration. The buffet is popular among budget diners who want quantity as well as quality.
