While many people desire immediate gratification, dining at Thomas Keller’s artful The French Laundry is an act of anticipation, as this wine country institution still manages to be booked solid two months ahead of time. Keller’s Per Se shares this spot on our list as well as our highest possible rating. Keller has given his hungry fans two new restaurants this year: Bouchon Bakery in New York and Ad Hoc in Yountville. While the latter is scheduled to close shortly, he is sure to be making it worth the wait at the French Laundry for years to come.
