THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Rhumba Restaurant Review:
Packed wall-to-wall with beautiful young people, this hot Caribbean eatery is the place to be seen. Sit on a not-so-comfortable stool at the long wooden bar and order a glass of smooth, well-aged sipping rum. Rhumba serves nearly 50 different rums from small distilleries in Nicaragua, Grenada and Anguilla as well as the more mainstream Puerto Rican brands. In summer, the large garage doors behind the bar open up to an outdoor dining plaza. Some stellar appetizers: tongue-tingling fresh ceviche, conch fritters with a sweet red pepper dipping sauce, rum-flamed mussels with bananas and curry. You cant go wrong with the daily specials---Caribbean paella, seafood tacos, tamarind-glazed baby back ribs or jerk Atlantic salmon. If you like hot, order the made-to-order hellfire-grilled chicken curry. For dessert---real Key lime pie or chocolate-coconut-macadamia nut torte.
