The Grisanti family has a hold on Italian cuisine in Memphis, boasting traditional red-sauce recipes passed down from generation to generation. Lovely aged steaks, tender veal preparations, delicate pastas, and nicely cooked tuna are only a few of the many delights. Certain traditional dishes, such as Elfo's Special (pasta sautéed with butter, garlic, mushrooms, shrimp and white pepper and named for the Grisanti patriarch) will never change. There’s also a huge list of wines from all regions of Italy, which most of the polite staff know by heart. Service is competent and warm, the atmosphere is eccentric with its faux marble, closely hung family portraits and other paintings. Expect a wait on busy weekend nights.
