Part of Redlands' growing repertoire of solid restaurants is this stylish family-operated trattoria where mustard-colored walls are lined with gallery-quality art and tables topped with black linen and candles. Although the kitchen offers a few contemporary dishes, its stock in trade is the kind of hearty fare from the Italian countryside replicated in stateside Italian neighborhoods. Deep-fried calamari or artichokes---generously portioned like most items here---make good starters before moving on to old-fashioned lasagna al forno, veal piccata, rack of lamb with a pesto glaze, or cioppino. For dessert, the owners go the distance---all the way to New York for Carnegie Deli's famous cheesecake and tiramisu flown in from Italy.
