Roxie Deli and Barbecue Restaurant Review:
This neighborhood deli has all the elements that make up a true local gem: friendly staff, quality food and no pretension. Named after the San Francisco deli of the same name that has been in the family four decades, Roxie attracts hungry diners with its house-smoked meats, artisan breads and a selection of craft brews to wash it all down. The ambience isn’t much, consisting of a few tables scattered on the outdoor patio, but it’s the food that’s the draw. Each day features a barbecue special that might include tri tip, pulled pork, ribs or brisket, and smoked chicken and meatloaf are on the daily menu. Pair any meat with a house-made potato, pasta or macaroni salad and dessert for a full meal, or sandwich it between bread for an on-the-go option. Sandwiches are what put Roxie on the radar; our favorites include the house special, with turkey, pastrami, cheese and all the fixin’s. The Meatball Mafia is also a winner, with meatballs, provolone, sour cream and jalapeños. Come early for the breakfast sandwiches, which include eggs, cheese and choice of ham, bacon, hot links or meatballs.
