If you have visited the original Roy's in Hawaii, you may miss the sunset views, lush plant-filled patio and romance associated with the Big Island. However, you will not be disappointed with the food at this upscale Austin outpost of the Hawaiian-based chain founded by celebrity chef Roy Yamaguchi. We like to start with the chopped lobster pot stickers and one of the tropical martinis. For entrée specials, catch precisely cooked tilapia, prawns or scallops, frequently bathing in rich, silky sauces. Signature dishes include the roasted macadamia-crusted mahi mahi and the thick slab of Hawaiian blackened ahi. Frequently, we rely on the bounteous bok choy seared beef salad or lemon grass shrimp on noodles drizzled with coconut-curry sauce. A prix-fixe menu is also available every evening. Fancy desserts, like Roy’s Melting Hot Chocolate Soufflé, leave a lasting impression.
