THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Roy's Restaurant Review:

The San Francisco outpost of this widespread chain of Hawaiian Fusion restaurants (started by chef Roy Yamaguchi in Honolulu in 1988) features a wide dining room complete with a high-energy exhibition kitchen, bar and lounge, and an intimate mezzanine for quieter dining. Tables are outfitted in white; a sweeping, island-themed mural adds softened color. The vibe is after-hours corporate---lots of suits and heels---though judging from everyone’s good spirits, Hawaiian attire would be just as welcome. Service is sincere, and the food features mostly finessed presentations of sustainable fish and seafood (even the conch is sustainable) coupled with local ingredients whenever possible. Contrasting flavors are mainly bright and spicy, tangy and sweet---and lacking in real soul, aimed toward pleasing the bulk of the expense-account set.
