THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Ruchi Restaurant Review:
Most of Atlantas South Indian restaurants are vegetarian, and indeed at Ruchi one can maintain that perspective. But one doesnt have to as the meat dishes, also done in the South Indian tradition, have the brisk, lively flavor of authenticity. Start with any one of several delectable vegetable appetizers to get the flavor of the vegetarian cooking. The potato bondai, for instance, are tasty lentil-potato dumplings, well-seasoned but not wickedly spicy. Lamb cooked with onion, tomato, cumin, coriander and curry leaves makes a good follow-up; the meat is tender and well-seasoned, with the hotness level adjusted to the customers request. The famous South Indian dosais are here (crispy crêpe-style pancakes filled with highly seasoned vegetable stuffings.) Mango ice cream made in-house makes a good finish. There is wine, but the list needs major improvement. Until that happens, savor a beer.
