The Ruin Daily Restaurant Review:
The Ruin Daily seems like a funny name for a deli and day bar, doesn't it? Not with the Martin Van Buren connection. At the corner of Jefferson and Van Buren --- Van Buren, as in the president widely credited with ruining the financial system on the daily --- the sandwich shop elevates its menu with selections for meat and veggie lovers, including the Shaved Ham and Cheese, the Buffalo Cauliflower and the Salmon Po Boy. Chef Gabino “Bino” Ottoman (Longman & Eagle, Le Bernardin, The Breslin Bar & Dining Room) helms the kitchen, with chef Mindy Segal lending her hands to morning pastries. Coffee, beer, wine and cocktails round out the casual offerings.
