Ruth's Chris Steak House Restaurant Review:

Ruth’s Chris Steak House is an enigma in Metairie, among blocks of fast food restaurants and shopping centers. Inside, the atmosphere is reminiscent of older, traditional dining room elegance, with wall-to-wall carpeting, crisp white tablecloths and servers who seem to sense your every need. The restaurant's filets benefit from the seasoned-butter application; the best cut, however, remains the strip, with a tender texture and deep flavor. The quality steaks are well aged, and lamb, veal and pork also make the menu grade. Side dishes are generously portioned, and the shrimp rémoulade, the house salad with its unique hot-paprika house dressing, and any of the dozen or so potato dishes are bounteous and tasty. Enjoy for dessert the banana cream pie with caramelized bananas on top and white chocolate custard inside. The surprisingly brief wine list still manages to cover all bases, and includes a number of Cabernets and Pinot Noirs; the always dependable Penfolds Shiraz is a mainstay. White wines are well represented, too; the Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay is big enough to go with a steak if you must have a white wine. Service is professional.
