THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Salt House Restaurant Review:

Salt House is a joint venture from well-known maître d' Doug Washington and suave sibling chefs Mitchell and Steven Rosenthal, who also own nearby restaurants Town Hall and Anchor & Hope. The stylish space --- a 1930s-era printing-press warehouse --- features soaring windows, exposed brick, and giant iron girders. Light fixtures adorned with rows of note cards and a smoky, dominating mural of Don Quixote add touches of wry sophistication. Salt House's urbane scene attracts a lively crowd and is popular with businessmen for lunch. The menu of upscale American fare is fairly similar for lunch and dinner, though additional mid-day options include a Cubano sandwich with roasted pork, black forest ham and Gruyère. From the appetizers, fluke tartare is brightened with Asian pear and lime vinaigrette while crispy shrimp accompany a plate of spicy green beans, Serrano ham and almonds. The rich, impressively built entrées might range form petrale sole with celery root, chanterelles and spicy shellfish jus to a grilled pork chop served with warm potato salad, artichokes, olives and bacon vinaigrette. The international wine list presents about 20 selections by the glass, and there are special "producer highlight" sections that offer background information on the winemakers.
