THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED SALT Kitchen & Bar Restaurant Review:

One of Midtown's classic Victorian residences comes alive with the energy of a young crowd, both among the patrons and in the kitchen. A graduate of the culinary program at the Atlanta Institute of Art, Jason Dauble finally has a kitchen in which to bring together his varied cooking experiences. Born in Michigan but reared in the Atlanta area, Dauble has flecked his American menu with bits and pieces of all the cooking that goes on in this town, including Korean-style barbecue. The Texas chili is a chunky, right-flavored spicy number with diced fresh tomato on top. Proper pulled pork barbecue is sandwiched inside a split buttermilk-cheese biscuit. Hungry for burgers? Consider the plate of three sliders, or mini cheeseburgers. There's the ubiquitous fried catfish and chicken and an excellent bacon-wrapped meatloaf on mashed potatoes. Side dishes include collard greens two ways: fried (curious) and steamed (with a touch of honey and some vinegar). For dessert, go with the fresh fruit cobblers and leave the dry and somewhat tough bread pudding out of the equation. The wine list is short and getting some retinkering but you'll find good choices by the glass or bottle to go with this food. We loved the B & G Rosé d'Anjou 2003 with just about everything.
