THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sapphire Grille & Sushi Bar Restaurant Review:
This contemporary restaurant looks like it may have once been a large house in the country, though its not quite the countryside any more, with the fast-growing cities of Solon and Moreland Hills expanding nearby. Wildly colored stained glass separates dining areas. A nice sushi bar sends its offerings around on trays that float on a little river of water. The dinner menu is relatively small, but complete. Entrées are expensive, and almost worth it. One terrific appetizer is the potato, chèvre and California fig terrine, served warm with smoked tomato broth and garlic croustades. A nice pasta dish is the seafood capellini with pan-roasted shrimp, scallops, mussels and littleneck clams tossed with fresh-tomato and lobster-infused sauce. Meat selections include a fine filet mignon, long-bone veal chop, Colorado rack of lamb and a good Long Island duckling. Fish entrées are successful, as well. Saturday nights are predictably busy, crowded and loud, but not overwhelmingly so. Service is helpful and efficient.
