Scratch Food & Beverage Restaurant Review:

Troy Hill is one of several local neighborhoods dubbed an "up-and-comer." There are multiple reasons for the designation, including that it’s home to Scratch Food & Beverage. Chef/owner Don Mahaney is a known quantity in the dining scene, having sharpened his skills before striking out to open this regional-inspired restaurant inside a former haunt. Slick, approachable presentations win over diners seeking plates that are large enough to provide substance but straightforward enough to share with companions. “Chicken + biscuit” is a good example of something to split or just reserve for yourself. Cheesy grits, a juicy burger and cabbage-and-noodles round out some of the offerings, all featuring thoughtful touches. The controlled list of alcoholic drinks makes decision-making a more simplified process. Brunch service affords an excuse to climb the hill, order a biscuit tin with brisket hash and then wander around, taking in the scene of the city below.
