Viewed from the outside, this former chain-steakhouse location is unappealing. Inside, however, it’s bright and alive with the banter of young couples chattering at the sushi bar. The classics of Korean barbecue cooking are well-done here, with excellent beef short ribs, bul kogi (beef strips) and barbecued chicken. The seafood pancake, inexpensive and full of seafood morsels, makes an excellent late-night supper for two. Cold noodle dishes and simmered beef ribs are among the main courses rigorously prepared in the traditional manner. Daily lunch boxes, with both Korean and Japanese items tucked inside, are the Korean version of fast food. The friendly staff will patiently explain unfamiliar dishes and help you choose hotness levels.
