It’s a cultural shock, ordering Chinese in a typical old London eel and pie shop, but it’s one that is worth the journey. The menu is a long mix of classics and the odd innovative Cantonese dish. The set meal (2 people minimum) is £15.80-£19 per person. A few Shanghai dishes are listed and aficionados of the style should request them prepared in their full pungency. Dim sum, served noon to 5pm, are as good as anywhere in London. Ask to be seated in the main room, otherwise you might find your meal interrupted by karaoke coming off the back room.
