Shish Kebab House enchants guests with its cozy dining room and array of Persian rugs. Dishes rely heavily on purées, yogurt and a liberal amount of seasoning. The diverse menu features appetizers like samosas filled with spiced vegetables; noodle selections; a variety of grilled and skewered meats, poultry and seafood; nearly a dozen sides; and a few authentic Afghan desserts. Not sure where to start? Try the Afghan House Dinner Treat, a tasting menu that offers a little bit of everything (the menu points out that it's the sort of feast you might expect if you were invited into an Afghan home); it's practically a bargain at $33 per person, although it can only be ordered by parties of four or more.
