THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sidney's Casual Fine Dining Restaurant Review:
Atlanta's south metro area isn't running wild with good restaurants, as many Southsiders travel to the city's urban center for fine dining. So one doesn't expect trendy or cutting edge dining in most places here, with a few exceptions. Sidney's provides the kind of comfort-level fare Southsiders have come to expect from their local restaurants, such as very good prime rib with horseradish sauce and excellent veggies and potatoes. The big 10-ounce portion is just $16.95. The scallion flower adorning the plates is dated and needless nonsense, but set it aside and enjoy the well-prepared simple meal hiding beneath it. Prices keep to a reasonable scale, important in this area. Still, the wine list could be a whole lot better without violating pricing concepts. Eight big screen TVs in the bar and three private rooms make Sidney's a major contributor to the Southside dining scene. Complimentary Dirty Bird wings are offered daily at Happy Hour. A bar menu is being instituted, along with a house draft beer that serves up 18 ounces for $1.75.
