The Sloppy Waffle Restaurant Review:

When you hear "waffle," do you think of tasteless batter rounds or, worse, those cratered cardboard rectangles that come out of the freezer? Vanquish those thoughts. At this country-cozy breakfast and lunch spot, the brainchild of actress and owner Luz Ramos, the star attraction is made the way Belgium's royalty demands: with dough sweetened with beet-derived pearl sugar. Liege waffles --- tender and buttery on the inside, golden-crisp on the outside --- form the base for eye-popping toppings like cookies and cream, blueberry compote or apple cobbler. It's the savory waffles that create traffic jams on the Berlin Turnpike, though. The signature Sloppy Waffle is loaded up with a pair of any-style eggs, bacon or sausage, cheese and maple syrup. And chicken and waffles with a sticky-rich drizzle of real maple syrup and a side of homemade potato chips will stick to your ribs all day. After you're seated, step up to the register to order. Most waffles are available in mini versions, and we like to order a variety and pass them around the table. Coffee imported from Puerto Rico is self-serve, so you never have to wait for a refill. Yes, the menu has non-waffle options: stuffed pancakes, custom omelets, even burgers. All are made with premium ingredients like cage-free eggs and nitrate-free meats. Go hungry, and with cash. Credit cards are not accepted.
