THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Smoked Joint Restaurant Review:

The hard-to-find entrance to the former Marabella's in the Academy House Apartments may have been one of the reasons for its demise, but now that The Smoked Joint has taken over, everyone seems to find their way. Here you can get the meatiest, greasiest ribs in town, great spicy hot wings, tender brisket served Southern-style with sliced white bread---even New York-style pastrami that goes into a sensational Reuben sandwich is a winner. The wine list is fair, but the drink of distinction here is beer, especially the local Stoudt's. Chef Adam Gertler is the resident Renaissance man: in addition to running the kitchen, he splits his own wood for the barbecue and plays harmonica on karaoke nights. A young crowd---lured to the Joint for the 1 a.m. closing time and karaoke---have already made it home, often draped over the padded booths, watching sports on the plasma TVs while ingesting huge portions of 'cue.
