THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Smokin' Jack's Kansas City Barbecue Restaurant Review

: This is where locals go to satisfy their cravings for heavy-duty Kansas City-style barbecue. Owners Bill and Pamela Krauss use only certified choice, corn-fed, Midwestern meat, hand-cut and trimmed on site. They smoke-cook that meat extra slowly, for at least 14 hours, using mainly pecan and hickory. Smoke is a major part of the flavor profile of pretty much any beef dish here, and they always turn out consistently juicy and tasty, for which the Krausses give credit to their secret homemade rubs and sauces. We find the tri-tip main course an especially generous portion, as are the pork chops. The brisket is extra tender. We're also big fans of their hearty St. Louis-style baby-back ribs and homemade sausages. All dinners come with pork and beans, coleslaw and vegetables. Large beef and chicken sandwiches are popular with the lunchtime crowd. Located about 10 minutes south of Santa Barbara and just a stone's throw from the shore, Smokin' Jack's is easily accessible from Highway 101.
