Sorrel Restaurant Bistro Restaurant Review:
Chef-owner Adrian Halmagean’s multi-cultural heritage lends itself well to this eclectic bistro, where dishes from all over Europe mix and mingle in the converted shopping center space. The young chef displays equal confidence with dishes as diverse as lobster queso fundido with Spanish chorizo, salmon in a chili-lime glaze and a porcini-dusted pork chop. There are also nods to healthy eating and current trends, as in the kale and quinoa salad. A wide-ranging repertoire of desserts changes every few weeks, but may include a "flight" of four different mousses --- triple chocolate, lemon raspberry, tiramisu and crème brûlée --- and ricotta cheesecake. The wine list may be abbreviated, but pleasantly reflects some of the same qualities as the cooking. Although Temecula has always had a vibrant dining scene, we view Sorrel as a bit of a breakthrough for the Inland Empire, as Halmagean infuses a genuine bistro concept with a personalized menu that is consistently well executed.
