THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED South Street Restaurant Review:
South Street is making life a bit more tolerable for all those Philadelphia expats here in L.A. Yes, this is the real thing, baby. We're talking the genuine article: strips of rib-eye sautéed with lots of onions and laced with a blend of white American and provolone cheese, stuffed into a soft Italian roll flown in from Philadelphia's Amoroso Bakery. These are flavor-packed, sloppy sandwiches, perhaps the closest thing in L.A. to Pat's, South Philly's venerable cheese steak stand. And the authenticity of the place is further reinforced by an official City of Philadelphia flag and a rack of Philly's own Tastykake snacks.
