Spain Restaurant Review:

This West Village mainstay still packs in both regulars and newcomers who delight at the kitschy interior and old-school Spanish cuisine. The procession of free appetizers doesn’t hurt either. Super-moist beef meatballs and Spanish tortilla---egg cooked with potato---are good comfort starters, as are the lamb riblets. The seafood-loaded menu boasts lots of paellas and other old-fashioned favorites. Try the chicken breast campesina and be sure to ask for the caramelized garlic sauce that improves every dish. For the hungry with little care for quality, the huge portions will satisfy; otherwise, dishes like clams marinara, which are bland and rubbery, and shrimp with rice, will disappoint.
