Speed Queen Bar-B-Q Restaurant Review

: Speed Queen does barbecue---really, only barbecue---and does it as well or better than anyone else in Milwaukee. The unpretentious restaurant serves a wide variety of meats---ribs, beef tips, shoulder, outside shoulder (upon availability), chicken, turkey and catfish---as entrées or sandwiches, with hot, mild or "mixed" barbecue sauce. Accompaniments include coleslaw, spaghetti, black-eye peas, baked beans, yams and potato salad. There is also a fish fry of either catfish or perch. The Speed Queen stays open late, so you can enjoy the grub in a laid-back atmosphere nearly any time of day. Locals enjoy the take-out. Choose from pecan pie, apple pie or banana pudding for dessert.
