![]() : Located just steps from the Orlando Convention Center inside the Hilton Orlando, Spencer’s attracts diners wearing everything from shorts and sandals to coats and ties, and somehow it feels right. Watch the sunset from the back wall of windows and sip one of the signature cocktails --- we like the vesper, with gin, vodka and Lillet Blanc --- while you peruse the menu. Starters such as Parmesan-dusted calamari and black-and-blue carpaccio just get things started. The steaks are the star here, well-seasoned and seared under a 1,600-degree infrared broiler. Our favorites are the Prime Spencer’s steak (a marbled rib-eye) and the 16-ounce Kansas City strip. Double-cut pork chops and prosciutto-wrapped yellowtail snapper are good choices if you’re not in the mood for beef. Sides are pretty traditional, but don’t miss the loaded hash browns, a crisp, golden brown potato cake filled with bacon, cheddar, onions, chives and sour cream. It’s a rich partner for the steaks, but not to worry --- the leftovers taste great for breakfast the next day. The wine list is well thought out and includes a few unexpected and different bottles in every price range. |
