THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Spoon Table & Bar Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant & décor: When people talk about a cheerful, charming, unfussy neighborhood haunt, they may as well be talking about Spoon Table & Bar. Blonde wood tabletops and white-washed walls give the spare, smallish room a bright feel. The reasonable price tags and inviting menu make the restaurant accessible and enticingly low-key.
Food & Drinks: Deviled eggs dusted with bacon and chives are a delicious way to start a meal, as is a hearty yet refreshing salad of lemony teenage greens with roasted artichoke hearts, haricots verts, feta cheese and nutty red quinoa. Rustic skillets like gooey four-cheese mac and cheese and meatballs with crusty garlic bread are the ultimate comfort food. For a lighter option, branzino en papillote arrives at the table whole, scented with rosemary, thyme, lemon and plenty of garlic, with a side of caper-studded cauliflower. Cocktails like the Negroni Bianco, a concoction of Aviation Gin, Cocchi Americano and grapefruit bitters, are welcome riffs on classics, and the wine list features bottles from Portugal, California, Italy and Australia. For dessert, consider a warm chocolate brownie with a mountain of vanilla ice cream on top.
