THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The State Room Restaurant Review:

There is a swagger to this place that has to do with its split personality. Is this a nightclub dressed up as a restaurant, or a restaurant trying to be a nightclub? When entrée prices get up into the $30 range, it has to decided if it is going to be one or the other. The atmosphere is surreal, the lighting is dim. Customers are either dazzled or dazed by it all. The food can be wonderful at times, but woeful creeps in a bit too often. Safe dishes are the charred octopus, whitefish, porterhouse, and carrot cake (big enough to feed four people). Service is spotty at best.
